Hinduism no barrier to job as priest in Church of England - Times Online

A PRIEST with the Church of England who converted to Hinduism has been allowed to continue to officiate as a cleric.

The Rev David Hart’s diocese renewed his licence this summer even though he had moved to India, changed his name to Ananda and daily blesses a congregation of Hindus with fire previously offered up to Nagar, the snake god. He also “recites Gayatri Mantram with the same devotion with which he celebrates the Eucharist”, according to The Hindu, India’s national newspaper. Link to source article:

This article is proof that there are people who get it. Why in the world would God be limited to one book, or one language, or one name? It is an absurd idea. Actively trying to “convert” people is a grave sin. My rule is this, you do not have the wisdom to convert anyone from one religion to another until you can explain another person’s religion to them in such a way that they understand their own tradition in a richer and fuller way, so that there would be no need for them to convert anyway! Until your heart is opened at that level, you should simply go on practicing quietly.
