Wellness Times - Bakersfield’s Journal of Body, Mind and Spirit - Sicko - The Medical Establishment
I was glad to see Rae, the author of Vegan Voice in Wellness Times, saw this point about Sicko. The biggest issue is actually the horrendous costs of getting sick in this country, or for that matter anywhere in the developed world. It is crazy that people are being bankrupted by medical conditions. We have a very dysfunctional view, it seems to me, of what constitutes wellness in our society.
If people took proper care of themselves as to diet and exercise, the medical establishment as it exists today would simply collapse. I think this would be a good thing. I’m not saying that we dont’ need doctors. We do. We need Western style medicine for traumatic medical situations when surgery is the only option, for example broken bones, severe injuries, etc. But for many health issues, proper diet and exercise would take care of everything.
