Physicists Predict Possible Return of Dragons of Old

Will the Dragons of Old Return?
In his article, Ossified Dragon Theories, Rens van der Sluijs writing on the Thunderbolts Project website makes the argument that perhaps ancient myths of dragons emerging from the primordial seas, and flying through the heavens spitting fire, and in fact often described as having flaming bodies, were actually plasma discharges in Earth’s atmosphere, which in ancient times may very well have been much more highly charged that it is today. Most people believe that perhaps the dragons of myth were actually spawned by fearsome reptiles, perhaps like the fossil in the picture here.
But van der Sluijs points to several problems with this theory. For example, in myth, the dragon’s natural home is in the sky, which cannot be said of reptiles who for the most part crawl with their bellies to the ground. In myth dragons are associated with fire, and reptiles, of course do not fit that description.
He makes one observation, which is especially interesting:
Over and over again, traditional societies have recognized the mythical dragon in the lightning, comets, meteors, the auroras, and even the Milky Way. This common thread suggests glowing formations or streaks of light across the sky, a nuance that can only underscore the contrast between the dragon and the most obvious features of earthbound reptiles.” Visible plasma, on the other hand, is the common denominator in lightning, comet tails, and auroras. In its filamentary, toroidal, spiraling, and helical formations, high energy plasma discharge does in fact replicate the morphology of the dragon.
Researchs posit that there have been times of great geologic upheaval that coincided with an Earth atmosphere that was much more highly charged than now, much like the auroras of the northern lights, only much more extreme. Perhpas that is why dragons of ancient myth were associated with destruction and chaos.
This idea dovetails with an earlier article that appeared also on the Thunderboldts website about the universally found symbol of the Squatter Man, which is seen in petroglyphs, Native American Art, and in ancient sculptures, as seen in the picture here.
Is it possible that the ancient shamans were actually making literal records of what they were actually seeing in the sky? Most anthropologists think that the images are crude, distorted versions of the human form. But some cultures speak of it as the big red man in the heavens.
When appearing in the heavens, this plasma discharge column–the axis mundi of world mythology–evolved through a series of “plasma instabilities” documented in high energy laboratory experiments. The form that we see as the “Stickman” is the
culmination of a late phase, as a number of the flattened toroids fold up to form the stickman’s head. This squatting figure is one of the more stable (longer-lasting) plasma “instabilities,” and in this phase it was the the brightest and most terrifying component in a configuration of stunning impact on human imagination.
The discharge form was recorded on stone by all human communities that witnessed it, and it influenced sacred designs across several millennia. (Notice, for example the Chinese Longevity Symbol seen here.)
Often, as in the colorful images above, the designs will explain themselves through comparative analysis. But it is also helpful to remember that the configuration was visually alive. The “arms” of the celestial figure, for example, were not stationary but dynamic toruses, “warping” or folding upward, then downward, then upward again.
Some would argue that we are now nearing a time when such high energy plasma discharges could return, to coincide with massige Earth changes. Our being on the cusp of cylical iceage cycles, as well as the dreaded 2012 end of the Mayan calendar could see the return of the dragons of old.
